Preschool Pages
We began our first story time session by learning
the names of the two new friends that joined us this morning. Then we read a
book called Ouch! by Scarnell Ragnhild. “I” and “B” helped identify the names
of the animals that the hedgehog met during the story.
After the book
we did a flannel board rhyme called 5 Red Apples. “I” and “B” helped me count
the number of apples on the tree after each time one fell off. They also helped
me count how many apples were “on the ground” at the end of the rhyme.
Once our rhyme
was finished we read a book called Apples, Apples, Apples by Nancy Elizabeth
Wallace. We talked about different colors apples can be and what you can make from
apples.
After our second
book we did an apple tree craft. “I” and “B” glued a trunk and a tree top shape to a
piece of construction paper and then rolled pieces of red tissue paper into
“apples” to glue on their tree top. “I” made a few little apples and a few very
big apples, and “B” made apples of different shapes. When they
were done we counted and found that both trees had six tissue paper apples on
them.
After our craft
we had time for one more activity, so we returned to our reading carpet and
matched different colored apples into pairs before our time was up for the day.
