                             Toddler Time

This morning we looked at books about the zoo, naming the animals and talking about what sounds they make. We also talked about colors while playing with toys.
Hope to see more toddler friends next week!

Preschool Pages

The first book we read this morning was Goldilocks and the Three Dinosaurs by Mo Willems. The next book we read was Dinosaur vs. The Library by Bob Shea. “I” helped me read this book by wearing our dinosaur puppet and making the dinosaur open his mouth each time the dinosaur in the book “roared.”

For today’s craft we made a Shape-A-Saurus, where we combined a variety of shapes to make a dinosaur.
Hope to see more friends at preschool pages next week!

                        Toddler Time

We had just one friend during our first Toddler Time session today. She was very interested in the toys in the children’s room and did a lot of exploring. We had a few books about bath time today, and “S” brought some books of her own that she showed me!

Hope to see more toddler friends next week!

We began our first story time session by learning the names of the two new friends that joined us this morning. Then we read a book called Ouch! by Scarnell Ragnhild. “I” and “B” helped identify the names of the animals that the hedgehog met during the story.

After the book we did a flannel board rhyme called 5 Red Apples. “I” and “B” helped me count the number of apples on the tree after each time one fell off. They also helped me count how many apples were “on the ground” at the end of the rhyme.

Once our rhyme was finished we read a book called Apples, Apples, Apples by Nancy Elizabeth Wallace. We talked about different colors apples can be and what you can make from apples.

After our second book we did an apple tree craft. “I” and “B” glued a trunk and a tree top shape to a piece of construction paper and then rolled pieces of red tissue paper into “apples” to glue on their tree top. “I” made a few little apples and a few very big apples, and “B” made apples of different shapes. When they were done we counted and found that both trees had six tissue paper apples on them.

After our craft we had time for one more activity, so we returned to our reading carpet and matched different colored apples into pairs before our time was up for the day.
